Its Official, Apple iPhone 6 finally announced, meet the new smart Beast

After the tunnel comes the light; after a long while rumor, the much awaited Apple 2014 smartphone flagship is finally out, the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus.

It has been an interesting moment at Cupertino today as Apple CEO Tim Cook officially announced the new iPhone 6 Plus with its 5.5-inch screen, alongside the same long rumored 4.7-inch model. If you are much of a geek, you might not see something new about the new sleeky gadget, but all the same, Apple has successfully set into motion other phablets out there. As the event moves ahead, here is what we have gotten so far.

When announcing, the CEO called the iPhone 6, “biggest advancement in the history of iPhone”

The device debut with a next generation Retina HD display which uses ion-strength glass, different from the sapphire screen we got in rumors, the glass is an improved polarized, IPS liquid crystallized and an ultra-thin back-light. Just as predicted, the iPhone 6 has a 1335 x 750 pixel display measuring 4.7 inches across and has a 326ppi, a whopping 38% more pixel than the junior boy iPhone 5S. More so, it is 6.8mm thick, thinner than the 7.6mm on the predecessor.

It features, the new Apple’s A8 processor, a second generation 64-bit processor which is 25 percent faster than the last year debut and 50 percent boost in graphics performance. According to the CEO, the iPhone 6 offers 50 hours battery life for audio playback, 11 hour for video and also for Wi-Fi browsing, 10 hours on LTE browsing, and up to 10 days when you just put it on standby. A new M8 co-processor with barometer has been included for tracking elevation movements, like the number of stairs you have climbed.

You thought I forgot the camera, no; it is a brand new 8-megapixel iSight camera with image stabilization (digital) improved face detection etc.

The Smartphone will start its market debut on September 19, but pre-order will start on September 12. Gareth got its hands on the device and made a full review on Tech Radar, check it here. Likewise Chris at BGR delves more into it in detail.

As we await pre-order, Apple has refused to produce the 32GB model, maybe the CEO will explain why later, but the company has added a 128GB model which could help you way more on movies. In view of this, the iPhone 6 will cost $199 while the iPhone 6 Plus will be made available at $299, $399, and $499 for the 16GB, 64GB and 128GB respectively with a 2 year contract with your favorite carrier. The predecessor, iPhone 5S, is now available at $99 on contract.

I hope the newly announced Apple Beasts will enter the African market soon, Apple fans in Africa should get ready in a matter of months.
