Instagram Pulls Out Support for Twitter Photos, as Owner-Facebook takes charge

Are you on the popular social networking and microblogging service Twitter? If this is so, then here is something important for you. Something that may make you sad. The popular photo sharing website Instagram has pulled out its support for Tweet Cards. If you don’t know what the ‘Tweet Cards’ are, then let me tell you that it’s a feature of Twitter that enables you to view the Instagram Photos and YouTube videos, to be viewed, within the Twitter messages. But as the support of Instagram is no more there, Twitter users can’t view the Instagram photos within the tweets. Now the users should view the photos on Instagram’s own webpages.

If you Internet savvy, then you might be familiar that this popular photo sharing website Instagram, was acquired by the number one social networking website Facebook, for the whooping deal of $1 billion. But due to Facebook stocks’ drop, the acquisition closed for$715 million.

A few days back, Twitter users started complaining in the public messages that the Instagram images are not working properly. The users were thinking of it as server problem but then Kevin Systrom,  CEO Instagram, confirmed about the pulling out its integration with Twitter.

Mr. Systrom, cleared the situation yesterday and released the statement,  ‘We believe the best experience is for us to link back to where the content lives”.

Mr. Systrom further stated:

“A handful of months ago, we supported Twitter cards because we had a minimal web presence, and noting that the company has since released new features that allow users to comment about and “like” photos directly on Instagram’s website”.

Well, it’s not a hidden fact from everyone that ‘Photos’ sharing is one of the most loved task on social networking website and both of these social networking giants, the Facebook and Twitter know it well. In fact, most of the users on both these websites are just for photo sharing or viewing purposes. This is why, this best photo sharing website Instagram, that started as an app of smartphones, was acquired by Facebook by placing a bid of $1 billion and thus overtaking the bid placed by Twitter. The rivalry between these big fishes started from that day and this new update might be just the next move of the series.

Instagram allows the users to take the pictures with their smartphones, to tweak them and then to share the them with their friends. This awesome feature  has rewarded this photo sharing service with 100 million users and later on, its acquisition by Facebook. But it’s in the reports that, the feature provided by Instagram is about to be provided by Twitter as well and rumors are that the development work for the same has begun already.

You might be familiar that Twitter shut down the support for Instagram to use the data of Twitter for its ‘Find Friends’ feature. When Mr. Systrom was asked about it that whether it’s tit-for-tat situation, then Mr. Systrom clearly rejecte the statement and stated this is new update by Instagram is done for its own growth. It’s not done as an answer to Twitter’s step, that was taken in July. ‘

Well, whatever is, it’s surely going to affect Twitter’s user base. The affect may be a bit in the ‘Twitter via Web’ but s expected to be high among its mobile app users.

But yes, users will be able to share the Instagram images on Twitter. In order to view them, they will have to point to Instagram’s own webpages.

So what’s your view about this new update? Is it a matter of concern for you? Let’s discuss in the comment section below.
