Untethered Jailbreak For iOS 5 Devices is Now Available

For the past three weeks, we’ve been updating you here that an iOS hacker knowns pod2g has been working hard toward an untethered iOS 5 jailbreak and also sharing every details of his progress on his blog.

He’ s a good guy who has been doing wonderful jobs since a very long time by succeeding in jailbreaking different device after device – starting with the third generation iPod Touch and some others. Presently, he has now freed almost every Apple iOS 5 compatible device from the restrictions that Apple puts on them. And the only ones that are yet to be freed are those with the A5 processors, like the iPhone 4S and the iPad 2 device. ios 5 Untethered Jailbreak

ReadWriteWeb wrote that pod2G decided to share his idea and technique with the Chromic Dev Team in order to help bring out th result:

“Aware of how eager the jailbreak community is to get their hands on an untethered solution, pod2g decided to share his work with the Chronic Dev team, who develops the greenpois0n jailbreak for public use. An untethered jailbreak for A4 processor-based iOS 5 devices was released via both redsn0w and greenpois0n, another popular tool for jailbreaking iOS.” ReadWriteWeb

And according to what RWW said, it means this is the first time that such a jailbreak has been available for the iOS 5 since the new mobile OS was released back then in October.

Before, Apple device users could only jailbreak their OS using a “tethered” solution – it means that the person will need to connect a device to the computer (desktop or laptop) whenever the device is to be rebooted. Though, this technique might be a perfect one for the hardcore jailbreak addicts, but for some users who don’t have much of their time to wastes – solution of that nature is too cumbersome for them.

As from now one, the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPad 1 and the two most recent iPod models can now be jailbroken by using either the redsn0w or greenpois0n tools. Now that this release is finally out – pod2G will now focuse more on how he can then hack the iPad 2 and the iPhone 4S – so, be expecting that from us soon.

Why Do You Need Jailbreak?

Months ago, we covered here an article on how to jailbreak some Apple devices and few weeks after, another article was published on reasons jailbreak can help you, and later, another one was published here on why jailbreak can also hurt you.More to mention, but this one also shares the benefits of jailbreaking our Apple devices. These four articles are informative and straight to th point showing you the benefits of jailbreaking and its demerits so that you can know what you want before embarking on jailbreaking your device.

So, jailbreak in a simple form

Jailbreak gives you the convenience you really need to make sure that your device is totally yours instead of using it under the Apple’s restrictions which in most cases may not favour you well.

With Jailbreak, you can unlock any unauthorized apps and some user interface tweaks that are not available in the iTunes App Store. If you are someone who love to play online vintage video game emulators, jailbreaking your device is essential to helping you meet your expectation of playing such games.

Some people on the other hand just love the convenience of tethering their phone’s internet connection to a PC device such as laptop or to open the phone using a facial recognition instead of using the pin number. Also last year, ReadWriteWeb shares more than thirty basic reasons to jailbreak, and I really like the list and you can also read it via that link.
