AI is based on the principle that human intelligence can be defined in a way that a machines can easily mimic it and execute tasks, from the most simple to the more complicated ones.

The ideal characteristic of artificial intelligence is its ability to rationalize and take actions that have the best chance of achieving a specific goal.
Artificial intelligence was founded as an academic discipline in 1955. It has experienced both disappointments and success along the way.

Artificial intelligence refers to the simulation of human intelligence in machines that are programmed to think like humans and mimic their actions. These machines are able to perceive their environment and take actions that maximize their chances of successfully achieving their goals.

Understanding Artificial Intelligence.
When most people hear the term artificial intelligence, the first thing they usually think of is robots. That’s because big-budget films and novels weave stories about human-like machines that wreak havoc on Earth. But nothing could be further from the truth.

Artificial intelligence is based on the principle that human intelligence can be defined in a way that a machine can easily mimic it and execute tasks, from the most simple to those that are even more complex. The goals of artificial intelligence include learning, reasoning, and perception.

As technology advances, previous benchmarks that defined artificial intelligence become outdated. For example, machines that calculate basic functions or recognize text through optimal character recognition are no longer considered to embody artificial intelligence, since this function is now taken for granted as an inherent computer function.

AI is continuously evolving to benefit many different industries. Machines are wired using a cross-disciplinary approach based in mathematics, computer science, linguistics, psychology, and more.

Algorithms often play a very important part in the structure of artificial intelligence, where simple algorithms are used in simple applications, while more complex ones help frame strong artificial intelligence.

Categories of Artificial Intelligence
AI can be divided into two different categories : Weak and Strong.
Weak AI embodies a system designed to carry out one particular job. Weak AI systems include video games and personal assistants such as Amazon’s Alexa and Apple’s Siri.
Strong AI systems are systems that carry out the tasks considered to be human-like. These tend to be more complex and complicated systems. They are programmed to handle situations in which they may required to solve a problem without the intervention of a person. They can be found in self-driving cars or in hospital operating rooms.

Applications Of Artificial Intelligence
The applications for artificial intelligence are endless. The technology can be applied to many different sectors and industries.
It is being tested and used in the healthcare industry for dosing drugs and different treatment in patients and for surgical procedures in the operating room.
It has applications in the financial industry, where it is used to detect and flag activity in banking and finance such as unusual debit card usage and large account deposits. This goes a long way in curtailing fraud.
The security industry doesn’t shy from AI as it helps in combat, surveillance etc.
Other examples of machines with artificial intelligence include computers,self-driving cars, robots, game consoles etc.

Downsides Of Artificial Intelligence
Since its inception, artificial intelligence has come under scrutiny from scientists and the public alike.
One of the common arguments is the idea that machines will become so highly developed that humans will not be able to keep up and they will take off on their own, redesigning themselves at an exponential rate.
Another is that machines can hack into people’s privacy and even be weaponized. Others debate the ethics of artificial intelligence and whether intelligent systems such as robots should be treated with the same rights as human.
The aspect of employment isn’t left out with people suggesting artificial intelligence may affect human employment. With many industries looking to automate certain jobs through the use of intelligent machinery, the concern arises that people would be pushed out of the workforce.
Artificial Intelligence is gaining popularity at a quicker pace; influencing the way we live, interact, and improve customer experience. There is much more to come in the coming years with more improvements, development, and governance.

So we have seen what humanity stands to gain from artificial intelligence but there is a nagging issue. Is it truly the way forward? Does the benefits outweigh the ills that comes along with it?

  1. Airtificial Intelligence is growing fast, either we deploy it for good will determine the future of our existence. We are seeing a lot of companies retrenching because A.I has taken off in some industries replacing manual workers, and also issues of privacy and security comes to mind. There needs to be a well thought out policy on handling such upcoming issues as we pioneer this new frontier of Artificial Intelligence.

  2. Hey I think Artificial Intelligence has the power to influence the future…The number of businesses adopting artificial intelligence has grown by over 270% in the past four years, and the global AI market is set to reach $267 billion by the year 2027. This increase is not surprising, particularly when you consider all the benefits that come with adopting AI technology in marketing.

With AI-powered tools, marketers will be able to automate certain cognitive tasks. They will also be able to spot current trends, as well as predict them for the future, thereby helping to ensure the success of their marketing campaigns.

These are just a few of the ways that AI will influence marketing strategies. Read on to discover 8 more ways AI will change the future of marketing:

    1. Content creation
    2. Predictive analytics
    3. Better advertisements
    4. Product recommendations
    5. Better customer service
    6. Augmented and Virtual Reality
    7. Email optimization
    8. Voice search

There is no denying that AI is changing the future of marketing, but is it all positive, or will there also be a negative impact on marketing?
