Google has recently announced a new step which many could find hard to believe. The message that I received from Google today indicates that the search giant has finally come to conclusion to retire its Adsense for Domain feature that comes with all adsense accounts.

The new move shows that all the sites that have been serving the ad will no longer be able to show google ads for viewers any more. And not only that, publishers that are using this type of google service will no longer be able to use Google adsense for Domain anymore.

You can view the message that I got from Google today explaining this move and why it is so.

Hi Olawale,

We are contacting you because you are using AdSense for Domains to monetize your undeveloped domains. After we evaluated the benefits of our partner’s network, we have decided to retire the Hosted domains product within AdSense. Going forward, undeveloped domains will only be served through our existing AdSense for Domains distribution network.

Our records show that 2 of your Hosted domains will be affected by this upcoming change, which will follow the schedule below:
  • March 21: You’ll no longer be able to create new Hosted domains
  • April 18: Hosted domains will become inactive and it’ll no longer be possible to earn from them
  • June 27: Hosted domains will no longer as usual be available in AdSense accounts

To continue monetizing (adding value) your undeveloped domains, you can migrate your entire domain portfolio to any domain parking provider. Find out how in our Migration Guide:

Migration Guide

Please note that this upcoming change won’t affect any other AdSense products you’re currently using or the availability of other products to you. Also, reporting on your Hosted domains will remain available throughout the schedule above and for a period following the retirement.

For more information see the Help Center. We appreciate your understanding, and thank you for your patience as we continue to develop new features and offerings within AdSense.

Sincerely,

The Google AdSense Team

So, don’t let this type of news meet you unprepared, start looking for an alternative to monetize your domains.

  1. I’m sad and disappointed by this new of google. But I don’t have any choice at all now. I also received this message a while ago. 🙁

    1. Yes, the news is a little bit frustrating but what can we do to almighty Google ?
I believe you can’t do anything to convince Google…

  2. Well not so cool 🙁 This should mean a good thing to the parking companies that are still around, but I assume Google was getting subpar names on this service anyway to scrap the project altogether.

    Best of luck to everyone!

  3. Olawale i am using WordPress and Hostgator. What will be the suggestion for us from your side?

    1. I think Hostgator is among Google’s partner for this service. But Godaddy is surely there..maybe you should move to Godaddy..But conduct research to take action 🙂

  4. So what does this mean? Does it mean I can no longer use google adsense on my site? Does it mean I won’t get paid by google and I can’t use the adsense account any more?
    I’m so confused

    1. You mean the ads i’m using on my blog will still be visible to my readers even after these changes? Just wanna ask this with someone after reading the email i received a while ago.

      Regards,

    2. My doubt is SAME as Gary asked you here.I bought domain from Godaddy via.blogger.com for my blogspot blog.and it is expiring on 14 may 2012.I’m using adsense for content. But i cant understand what is the meaning of Adsense for domain.I’m not using it for my blog(not blogspot). So really does it mean I won’t get paid by google and I can’t use the adsense account any more BY THIS BLOG??Pls advise me what to do now?

You have replied that “…will no longer work for publishers who are using it for pages that have no contents such as EXPIRED domains…”-wht does it me..pls clarify me.Because NO CONTENTS AND EXPIRED DOMAIN are both diff things. And my domain have not expired NOW!

        1. Thanks Daniel..But I just checked Adsense for Domain Tab on my adsense account-some(5) of parked domain site have included with one of my blog on that. Those parked domain site are NOT AT ALL MINE..then why it’s appeared on my account??And one of my blog also I can see there which is marked as UNVERIFIED.And other unknown site marked as ‘disapprove’ which are not mine .I dont know whta is going on.I’m very scared as i’m a housewife and have no technical knowledge. Please advise me.Just I deleted all those parked domain from that tab.Is it okay or not?
Thank you very much for ur kind help..waiting for ur all valuable advise..

          1. It is a good move if you had no idea of those blogs because they could hinder your chances of getting hold of your account on the long run. Delete them and face your normal blog since you don’t owned those sites.

Google is becoming more stubborn about issue like that, maybe someone want to cause trouble in your account and transfer those to you…who is the person who has had access to your account before? Tell me so that I could know what next to do.
            Thanks for contacting me.

  7. If you are not sure and confused then listen carefully. Go to your account and click up the top left on Adsense, now click on your Ads tab where you are able to view all your Ads. Now on the left of your screen you will see a menu. Click domains and in the extended menue click hosted domains. Now you are able to see if you have any hosted domains. Any domains in this list will be effected! If you need further instructions go to my site where you will find further detailed instructions.
