You may have been aiming of laying your hands on the iPhone 5 once the phone is finally released. Though, the normal Oct 4 date rumored release date was not as many talked about it, so you’ll need to wait more time for the next release date of Apple iPhone 5 device. But, before the phone comes up, it is very clear that the iOS operating system is already available for people to start using it even without the release of the phone. People can upgrade to the iPhone 5 OS if they have the previous versions of the Apple’s products or even the latest version, Apple iPhone 4S.
I have a trick I got from Locker Gnome which lets you upgrade your apple devices to iOS 5 even without being an Apple developer. All what you have to do is to follow the few steps given below and within some minutes you will have the iOS 5 running on your Apple phone. This does not have anything to do with the official release of iOS5 because you can start enjoying iPhone 5 even before Apple releases it.
Steps to Upgrade to Apple iPhone 5 (iOS5)
Backup Your Current Apple iOS
Backing up your iPhone device is one of the very important thing to do if you want to upgrade. To backup your iphone iOS 4 or iOS 5 Beta version, you can use iTunes to do this task easily.
All what you need to do is synchronize your iOS device with iTunes and instantly, a backup will be made automatically for you. On the other hand, you can right-click on your device and choose ‘Backup’ in the iTunes Sidebar to backup your information.
Now, Upgrade to iOS 5
Before we continue, you will need to download iTunes 10.5 Beta 7 or higher for us to do this. I have listed below the correct download link for it below:
For Windows 64-Bit
For Windows 32-Bit
For Mac OS X
In addition, make sure to download iCloud Control Panel with it too.
After you have done that, then let’s navigate to the next line.
Since you have okay with the download of iTunes for your operating system from the link given, then you will also need to download the iOS 5 software for each item you wanted to upgrade via the link below:
iPhone 4 (GSM)
iPhone 4 (CDMA)
iPone 3GS
iPAd 2 (Wi-fi)
iPad 2 (Wi-Fi + 3G GSM)
iPad 2 (Wi-Fi + 3G CDMA)
iPad 1 (All)
iPod touch (3G)
iPod touch (4G)
Practical Aspects of it
Once you are done with all the above steps, then insert or plug your device in and load-up iTunes. Then go to the main settings area and locate the button that says “Restore.”
Hold down “Options” for MAC and “Shift” for Windows operating system and click on “Restore.” You will now be asked whether to allow the software to be installed on your device or not.
Navigate over to the place where you will see the folder of the file you have downloaded earlier on in this tutorial, and select the IPSW file there for your installation process.
Immediately, your mobile phone will restart and upon starting up, you will see iPhone 5 starting to run on your phone as an iOS 5 device.
Seems like a thorough guide, good job.
