As you all know, Google is the king of Internet and offers services in almost every category like search/mail/social networking. The situation is that, one can’t think about the Internet without Google. Its mobile OS Android has brought a revolution in mobile technology and it has resulted in great up peak in mobile Internet users’ list. Well, as we know, everyone does not have access to smartphones due to financial problems. The big ‘G’ knows this as well and to increase the mobile web users, it is about to boost its Free Zone application so as to provide better experience of its services like Gmail, Search, etc. to the users of low-end phones.
Well, this is not any surprise note as Google exists only if the Internet exists. More the count of people who use Internet is, more will be the revenue of Big G. Many people in the U.S can access Internet and this is the reason why Google makes a hell lot money from the U.S alone. The population in many countries is very high, especially in India, where the population is 1.2 billion, still, the search giant does not make that much from India, as it does from U.S. The only reason behind this is, less no. of Internet users in India. Only 10 percent of total population of India has access to Internet.
Google has set the aim to make three billion people online by the end of year 2015 and is working hard to achieve the same. If this happens, Google will be at the top of chart, in terms of revenue.
The efforts has been started from now itself and soon the ‘Google Trader’, which is free eCommerce platform by Google, will be launched. Lalitesh Kabragadda, product head, Google India said that “The next wave of products we are launching will reach the Indian mainstream.”
Moreover, Google is building data centres in Singapore, Taiwan and Hong Kong, which will reduce the server load of Indian traffic, by providing better and fast server. The fast server directly means that Indian traffic will be enjoying fast Gmail, Search and most importantly, fast streaming of YouTube videos.
Not only the Internet users are very less in India as compared to its total population, but the no. of websites from India, is also very less. This is because that most of the people in India, make living by running their own small businesses and they can’t afford a website’s costs like web hosting, domain name etc. To change the trend, Google came up with initiative ‘India, get your business online’ to provide free websites to small businesses. This initiative has received a good response and 150,000 SMEs has went online till date.
Julian Persaud, MD, sales and operations, South east Asia, Google, stated that:
“The first wave of internet growth was defined by developed countries while the current one is defined by massive countries such as India, Indonesia and Brazil.”
So the big ‘G’ knows that most of the upcoming Internet users will be from countries like India. Many people in India can’t afford the high-end phones and most of them are compelled to use low-end phones. That’s why Google wants to make such users enjoy the Google services smoothly, by boosting the net with Google App. Google wants to achieve its aim and this app is going to be a new step towards its goal.
