The geek was performed by Steve Troughton-Smith, he shows off his Microsoft Surface RT running an old build Mac OS. This will look like a magic to anybody, but it does happen, but don’t be excited, the Mac OS being run was only and older version. The 1997 experimental build by Apple.

The jailbreak tool for Microsoft Windows Surface RT is now available. Steve used Bochs, an open source virtualization app to run the magic.

jailbreak Surface RT

If you really want to run apps on Microsoft Surface RT tablet that has a jailbreak label, you will have to run Windows RT jailbreak tool first, discovered by C. L. Rokr. This jailbreaking tool has been posted on the XDA Developers forums; there you will get installation directives and instructions as well as FAQ. The jailbreak is an automatic process, and you will not have too much compounding issues like the android rooting.

This jailbreak is just like the tethered process in the iOS, the jailbreak has to re-run at each boot fo the Windows RT. The Windows Surface RT maker may look into the security measure to block this loop hole in the future, and it may overlook it, who knows as it told reporters early in the week.

Some of the apps that has successful run on the Surface PC includes; IP Messenger, Notepad++, TightVNC, a Nintendo game emulator named CrystalBoy, etc. Then Bochs, an x86 emulator also finds its way to one of the early apps.

  1. First of all congratulations for the new design of the blog, and then second thing which I know is that “there is nothing safe in this world” Microsoft too. People are running ubuntu in Chromobooks by destroying Google machine So, its not like a surprise to hear about Microsoft’s RT.

    1. This is just an experiment from Steve, Geeks are really trying hard to run any software on any device. Thanks.

  2. You actually make it seem really easy together with your presentation but I to find this matter to be really something that I believe I might never understand. It sort of feels too complicated and very broad for me. I am looking ahead on your subsequent post, I will try to get the hold of it!
