Nokia 808 PureView Specifications and Details
Nokia was once the world’s largest smartphone vendor but due to the emergence of Apple’s iOS and Google Android operating system, it was obvious that Symbian was unable to compete with them. So, Nokia partnered with Microsoft and is adopting the Windows Phone platform to rival Apple and Google, but still we are seeing some of the last Symbian devices from the Finnish manufacturer.
Today, Nokia has kicked off MWC 2012 with a new Symbian device named as Nokia 808 PureView and the main feature of this device is its amazing 41 MP camera which is made upon the pixel oversampling technology of Nokia. It will be the successor to Nokia N8 and will be powered by Symbian Belle. So, it is going to be one of the last Symbian smartphone but still, its ability to bring satellite imaging to a smartphone with its 41 MP camera will be memorable.
Nowadays, MWC 2012 is taking place in Barcelona, and the Nokia 808 PureView is being showed off by the manufacturer at the event. As this new device is a Symbian powered handset, but Nokia has previously promised to bring a new technology in the Windows Phone OS range of phones.
Basically, Nokia has mentioned that this PureView 808 smartphone is being launched because the company wants to ensure their significant short term investments in Symbian. But we can say that this staggering imaging technology will soon be introduced in the Windows Phone devices as well and that’s what we are waiting for right now.
Very Powerful Camera
So, with this new technology, users will be able to capture images at 41 megapixels and they also will be able to zoom, reframe and crop these images after shooting. Obviously, with this large camera will be able to capture zoomed images with very high details. Just like 808 and other Nokia phones, we can now expect many other smartphone vendors to come forward and deliver even better and more powerful camera mobiles.
Processing Power
Even though the phone has been designed to bring in some thrill among consumers and big brands by introducing such a powerful camera phone, yet it still fulfills the requirement of almost all high end mobile users as well. In addition to what is mentioned above, i would like to shed some light on some of other hardware features and discuss about phone’s capabilities. Nokia 808 PureView is capable of capturing 1080p videos.
Phone comes with a powerful single core 1.3 GHz processor ARM 11 and massive 512 MB of RAM. Thinking of the processing power and amount of memory storage, almost brings back old memories when having a desktop PC with this much processing capacity used to be a dream, thanks to technology that in today’s date we can use even more powerful hand held devices, which we can even carry around in our pockets. There are several other things, which come under the hood of this monster camera phone, such as its capable graphics and ISP chip combo.
Body Style and Display
The apparent design looks very lucrative, the dimensions suggest that phone is not massively big, it comes under the close frame of 123.9 x 60.2 x 13.9 mm and 95.5 cc width. Compared to many other smartphones, this Belle powered smart gadget merely weighs 169 grams, which is pretty impressive for its size and capabilities. The display of phone is also pretty decent, as it boosts its AMOLED capacitive touchscreen capabilities with 16 million color resolutions. The screen size is about 360 x 640 pixels and 4.0 inches with 184 ppi pixel density. The screen is also well protected, as Nokia used its ClearBlack display with corning gorilla glass.
Sound and Memory
Just like most of other smart or not so smartphones, Nokia 808 also carries the standard features used for alerts or entertainment purposes, such as WaV ringtones, vibration, Mp3 and loudspeaker. It also has the standard 3.5 mm jack input, which supports and allows Dolby headphone enhancement as well as Dolby digital plus.
When it comes to memory, it is pretty decent as well and rest assured you can store tons and tons of pictures you take or videos you make. 808 supports microsd card and you can insert up to 32 GB memory card into the slot, beside that 32 GB storage, there is some internal storage of 16 GB with 1 GB of rom. This is more than enough to record as many contact details, past call records etc.

I think that this phone will be a dud. What is the idea behind making this phone a Symbian Phone? Rumours are circling about a Lumia Pureview. That is what I’m looking forward to.

Is too expensive ($450 to $500). In Pakistan I think no one want to buy this phone.
