If you are a fan of Oprah Winfrey, one of the world’s most influential person, you will see her tweet on Sun where she showed off her love for the newly released Microsoft Surface tablet. She claimed in early November that it is one of her favorite thing, and on Sunday morning, she tweeted that she had already bought 12 pieces for Christmas gifts. She updated the tweet using her Apple iPad.
The Microsoft Surface is number 48 on Oprah Winfrey’s favorite things
Alongside other gadgets such as Beats by Dre Powerbeats, the Microsoft Surface holds the 48th item on the list of Oprah’s favorite things. The tweet of Oprah placed all eyes on the Windows RT twitter apps; it was argued that as at the launch of the Windows Surface tablet, it has not packed any good Twitter client, but when you critically look at the operating system, you will see Rowi, MetroTwit and Tweetro. Tweetro was shut down by Twitter when the user login hit the limit of 100,000 as it has been the Twitter with the real Twitter experience.
The issue is alarming as Twitter has not yet released its official client apps in the Windows store, yet it is one of the most popular apps on other OS. For Twitter not to have released an official modern UI app to Windows app store shows that big app developers has not yet done the same to the store. Well we have got good news from Twitter, an according to them, work is in progress:
The Windows 8 is quite different from Windows RT apps, the Windows RT runs the ARM based devices, and it is not optimized to support the legacy Windows apps. It is yet to be confirmed if Twitter is going to create an app for the Microsoft Surface platform.
The question is why is Oprah showing love for Surface through the iPad, even if she insisted on tweeting through the official Twitter apps, the website is still there for her to use, especially when she only needs to endorse the Microsoft Surface through Twitter, and the tweet will still be the same as that sent through the iPad. Now the whole thing makes her looks like a sellout.
