If you have been using the Internet for long, then you must be familiar with the past reputation of Yahoo. There were days when Yahoo was king of Internet. This has become past as the companies like Google, Microsoft have replaced the spot of Yahoo even in the yahoo mail service.

Yahoo has been struggling to get the crown of Internet King again, since its last day of peak popularity. Marissa Mayer, the new CEO of Yahoo, is bringing new changes to defeat all its competitors. Few days back, we had the update from Yahoo regarding Yahoo Messenger, and the same is going to loose some features on December 14th.

Well, in the series of changes being made by Yahoo, here comes the new one. This time, it’s regarding Yahoo Mail, the email service from Yahoo.

Yahoo Mail Gets a Revamp

Yahoo Mail gets a revamp so as to overtake the popularity levels if its competitors in email services’ field; Gmail and Hotmail. The new changes in the Yahoo Mail are brought to make the email service better, cleaner and faster. Gone are the days when Speed was not considered by the users. All they wanted was good features. Current era is all about speed and this is what Yahoo Mail provides with this revamp.

Yahoo’s CEO Marissa Mayer is working hard to give reasons to users to stick to their online services, rather than opting for any others in the field. This update is done to grow Yahoo Mail. Of course, more users will led to more advertising opportunities to company’s lap. This is what Yahoo wants; this is what every company wants.

Yahoo’s share price has been stable for last four years, around $20. This clearly shows that how Yahoo is loosing popularity as the time is passing, because when Microsoft shown its interest to acquire Yahoo in May 2008, the share price was near $30. This revamp in Yahoo Mail brought a small rise of 4 cents, on the day of its announcement, Tuesday. Yahoo’s CEO is expecting more rise in the share price, with this revamp in Yahoo Mail.

Yahoo Mail in Tough Competition with Google and Microsoft

Yahoo Mail is in tough competition with email services from Google and Microsoft. Microsoft recently redesigned their email service and rebranded it as Outlook.com. Google also made few changed in its email service Gmail. Yahoo Mail had 282 million active users in October, Hotmail had 282 and the Gmail topped the list with 295 million active users in the same month.

While Gmail is catching the attraction of users more than any other email service does, still, one may expect the same popularity of Yahoo Mail in the near future. CEO Marissa Mayer hopes so and because she worked for 13 years as top Google executive, and was one of the smart minds behind the company’s email service ‘Gmail’.

‘Yahoo Mail’ New Apps for Smartphones

Yahoo Mail New Apps

Along with the revamp in design, new Yahoo Mail apps are available for the smartphones. The new apps are for iPhone, iPad and Microsoft new devices, featuring Windows 8. Yes, the Yahoo Mail Android app, has also been updated. This is pretty good move, as many people don’t get the time to check their important mails on Laptops or PCs. Such users use smartphones and tablets for their email needs. So one may expect the rise in Yahoo Mail’s popularity among the smartphone and tablet audience as well.
